ABRAHAM, Louis 1962
Dear Russel,
Yet another of the Abraham brothers. Rocky sent me a copy of your letter to him, I will not be able to make it, but I hope all of you who do attend the function have a most happy reunion. If there are any of my classmates there, please let them know I enquired about them. My name is Louis Abraham from the class of '62. There was a Mcloud who migrated to Australia soon after he left Montfort, if he does attend ask him if he remembers me. Louis. chandyabraham@gmail.com
ABRAHAM, Sheila (nee TERRY) SHY
This is Sheila (Terry) Abraham from Yercaud. I am Mr Nat Terry's daughter and have now retired and settled in 'Fatima Villa', Yercaud. I just saw the invitation on the Net and would really love to join the SHY & Montfort gang' for the Reunion scheduled for 12th November. I was also very happy to see a classmate of mine Joan Scott (Jacquet) from the U.K. The whole event sounds like real Great fun. My husband Ramsay will be accompanying me. Incidentally, he is an Associate Life Member of Montfort, though not a past student. It was during Bro Baptist's time when this Associate Life Member was introduced. This has since been discontinued. There are only 2 such Members.I must get this off to you tonight itself. Till later. Sheila sheilaramsi@eth.net

ADAMSON, Carlton Dexter 1968 adamsoncarl@rediffmail.com  Dear Gordon,
Greetings!
Thank you and the committee for extending an invitation to the reunion. It brings back fond memories, who can ever forget our Alma Matter. I write to inform you, with a very heavy heart that we will not be able to attend the reunion as we will not be able to make it to Australia this time. I do however wish this reunion every success and say hi to all those present. I am sure most of them would remember me.
God Bless always. Carlton Adamson  (Addie 1968.)

ALOHONSO. Jennifer SHY 1964-71 passed out of SHY in 1971.  I've attached a pix of self taken in November 2003.  I'm in Mumbai and feel so bad that I wont be there at the Reunion.  Hope you guys have a great time and I look forward to at least seeing pictures of old SHY / Montfort gals and guys. jma777@rediffmail.com
Anderson, Bernadette (nee Buckley) SHY pbander@bigpond.net.au  I am looking forward to this re-union. I have passed the flyer on to the SHY girls that I know. My maiden name was Buckley (married Peter Anderson) and my father was also a Montfort boy. Looking forward to hearing more.
ANTAO, Eddie 1963-70

Greetings

You guys might not remember me as I might have been a "young chap" to you. I remember Russell as you were with my brother Joe in the 67 batch. I was pleasantly surprised to come across your site last month when searching for old classmates on the net. I've since been in touch with Greg, Bruce & Rocky from my class using addresses from your site. I attach a photo of our (1970) batch when in Mrs Clifton's class. Two of the names on your site are in the photo - Francis Bamford with Garth Rawlins sitting behind him. They left school before 1970.

Unfortunately I really regret that I will not be able join you at the reunion. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Also remember the names Avril Martin & Blossom Adamson from SHY. My earliest memory of Yercaud/ SHY was when a German(!!) boy named Martin influenced the nuns to introduce cricket Unfortunately for me a guy called P T Thirumuninathan chucked a wicket and I got in the way resulting in the wicket with the metal point sticking out of my head. Just then the Confession Bell rang and I, still in shock, joined the confession queue with blood splashing everywhere, girls screaming (or so I'd like to think) and then landing in the infirmary! Also remember being taught to serve the Latin Mass by the big girls.

Warmest Regards, Eddie Antão,  Brisbane

Hi Gordon! This is Shirley Alphonso, SHY 1972.  I know the Gomes (es?) Will try & send a pic of "now" I don't have any of "then". Maybe Christine does?
That's such a super idea having a Montfort & SHY reunion.  I'm in Gurgaon (outside of New Delhi) currently & would love to get buried down under with you guys but will have to pass this time. Will check out your website.  Would love to hear from SHY girls all over, esp around the 70s (that is the time period, not the 70-yr-olds!!).  I'm trying to get in touch with one girl  - Jennifer nee Whiter, birthday 6 July, left SHY for Aus around 1967/8??? not sure.  But if she gets in touch with you guys pls let me know.
Lots of love to the Gomes's.  Did you have a sister in SHY?  I don't recall too many Montfort boys - I was shy.(tee hee!)
Love, Shirley Alphonso ajbhatia@touchtelindia.net
BLAKE, Philomena (nee Van Ross) SHY 1950-57
Hello Russell,
This  is Philo Van Ross. News of  the reunion you are organising has reached me via my old classmate Daphne Jacquet (now Alexander) and also  through her sister-in-law Virginia Alexander.   Exciting Stuff and what a great idea!  I was in SHY from 1950 - 1957 and really have very fond memories of my school days during that time.   My mother, Bessie White was also a boarder in SHY together with her sister Carmel White -  but that was a long time before  our time.   My brother Philip (better known at that time as Billy) was also in SHY and then went to Montfort for a while as also did my younger brother Gordon who sadly passed away very suddenly  4 years ago.    I have made a couple of visits back to Yercaud the last one being at the time of Mother Bernard's Golden Jubilee.   Unfortunately my stay on each occasion was  for just a couple of days, and apart from seeing the nuns didn't really have much time to get together with Genevieve Escrader and Sheila Terry though I did see them very very briefly.   There is a small group of  us who were in SHY together and we try to get together at least once a year although we  didn't have a meet this year.   Those of us who get together andd keep in touch are Joan Jacquet(Scott); Joan Davis (Gregory); Jean Snaize White)Carol Snaize (Mayes); Wendy Van Ross (Dimmock); Nancy Loader (Pinto); Elen D'Senna.   The last time we met  was when Pat Baker made a trip to the UK year before last.  We would love to hear from any of the old SHYgirls/Montfort boys in England and perhaps we can get together via  your web-site.   Read Honey Bosen's letter with great interest -  It would be great if Honey's suggested reunion in 2007 materialises - I would certainly love to be there. If anyone knows what has happened to  Marlene Bowie I'd be glad to know.    I exchange Xmas cards with Ralph & Sally Scott who are in Melbourne. My regards and Best wishes to all my ex school mates.    Wish I could have joined you all on the 12th and 13th, but unfortunately  only heard about this  a week or so ago.      However shall be thinking of you all and Love and Best Wishes for a Great Reunion.  Philomena Blake (Van Ross) Telephone: 01276 29808    email: dblake@ntlworld.com

Ryan Brass married Christina Durham they are here in Muscat and brother Sheridan.
BURROWES, Avril (nee Martin) SHY 1968 Hi , Just wondering what the exact date for the reunion is – we have an invitation stating its on 5th November, yet your website states its on 11 th, 12 & 13th November.  Can you please confirm the dates. Thanks,  Avril Burrowes (nee Martin) gilford@bigpond.net.au   (NB: Avril has been advised that date is 12/11/2005).

I've just made a flight booking for myself and Bev & his wife Jean will also be attending the re-union.  Still trying to convince Llewellyn & my sister Sandra to make the trip across to WA too. We are looking at booking accommodation in an Apartment, can you let us know where all the activities will be, so that we can book something close by and not have to drive too far after the events. Does it look like you will have many ex Montfort/Shyans attending and will they be mainly from Perth or elsewhere. Looking forward to catching up with you guys. Avril gilford@bigpond.net.au

Dawson, Carlyle

1942-49

Spain     carldawson@terra.es

I am  Carlyle  Dawson, a pupil at Montfort from 1942 to 1949. The teaching staffs at that time were Bros. Eleazar, John (one lung), Trigo, Xavier, Philibert, George Mckenzie and his brother, Mrs Narisiah. Mrs Pauli, Treasurer  was Bro. Zephrin.  The games master was Tiger Nat Terry.  I would like to catch up with some my buddies of that time. Punji Vanspall now in Australia, the MCquade brothers also in  Australia, Hugh  Bantleman. We had a fab cricket eleven in 48 and 49 and gave  Salem C.C  a run for their money. The Inter Sports with Campion and  Vestry  were also nail biting affairs. In 49 we had Justin Demelo a fab sprinter who won the Mysore Olympics in the 100 and 200 yards. Anyway enough about myself and my times, I will do my best to be there, but, it is going to be tough. We return from  Vancouver on the 15th Oct.  We now live in Spain after 40 years in the UK
DEVASIA, Robert 1998
UK. robert_devasia@yahoo.co.uk . A keen follower of the history and happenings of Montfort I could not but help being elated when i read all the write ups on the links i got through your site. Quite surprisingly, you are yet to encounter a lot of the younger crop and may I be the first. It is just amazing that we endeavour to build a community of those who have passed the portals of Montfort and I would seek to get a lot of those of my time signed on. Another word I need to being to this group is that for a few years now Montfort has started taking in Girls and therefore it no longer remains a Boys school. I wonder that modifications the school anthem went through but I shall let you know when I come to hear it.

Hi Russel,Thanks for your reply. I can't commit myself just now to coming over for the reunion in Nov due to business commitments, but I'll try to reschedule and will let you know if I do in due course. If you know of any other Montfort old boys in NSW can you please send me their contact details. You are the first from the batch of 67 & the school that I have contacted. How many old boys are there in Perth, must be a few and do you have an old boys club etc.... give me some details. I am interested.
Now about myself... came to NSW Aust in 73, got married,  now have 2 adult kids , son lives away from home but my daughter still lives with me. I have never been back to Montfort since I left school even though I was visiting India on business in 2000. I should have but it never occurred to do so at that time. I will visit it one day.
We should keep in touch and I am sure we will meet one day. My kind regards to you and the other old boys in Perth. God Bless

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your mail. I got in touch initially with your brother Vern
and than linked to others through your website. Rev Fr T Mathias was our Principal when I did my PUC at St Joseph's College Trichy. I shall email him. I got in touch with V Galiffe who was my close buddy. I do have the group photo of all our classmates of 1962 xi standard. I will scan it and send you the snap from Chennai. I am right now in Virginia with my daughter. You have done a great job of designing and maintaining the website. I hope to track more Montfort guys. Do you know where to contact George and John Mckenzie and their children. I have seen DG Pears website. He too has a family tree with lots of photos. I did not see many Montfort photos in his website. Who was our matron from 1960 to 1962? Her name is slipping my mind. She used to travel each year to UK and head back to Montfort. She was in charge of the infirmary too.

Hi Russel,
Thanks for the invitation to the Montfort Re Union. Please convey our special wishes to all Montfort and SHY Families. I request if you could get us in touch with the following classmates who passed XI standard in 1962 and presently settled in Australia/ New Zealand:
1.Hensley Chapman- Australia
2.Geoffrey Edwards- Australia
3.Gordon Desena- Australia
We are trying to get all our classmates reconnected. Truly you website has fueled us to get our classmates together for a start. Thanks and God bless, James Kanagaraj

Hi there Russel. It is a pleasure to hear from you. I remember you and your two brothers and you also had a cousin, whose face I remember clearly, but I cannot find a name to go with it; maybe you could help. cheers from Switzerland.

MATHEW, Chandy 1952-56 at SHY

and 1957-62 at Montfort

Dear Fonceca brothers,
My compliments on  a great job of organising this reunion and also getting so many people with the"SHY-Montfort" connection together in Perth as well as through the internet.
I am Chandy Mathew, 1952-56 at SHY and 57-62 at Montfort.
It was great to see your website and find so many familiar names from 1952 onwards. I have managed to reconnect with some of my classmates-thanks to you-D Sriram, Vernon Galiffe, James Kanagaraj, A Seshanathan and we are trying to have our full Montfort class of 1962 e-connected soon-to start with......
I would have loved to come for the reunion with my wife but at this point we have too many commitments.  Hope to make it next time.
I wish you great success with the get together and to all those who attend a jolly good time. Cheers-- Chandy chandy.mathew@gmail.com
MATHIAS, Theo (SJ.) 1927- 33 Dear Gordon Fonseca,
I too am one of 5 brothers Mathias who studied in Montfort. However, my years of study there were 1927-33. There was also another set of 5 Mathias brothers from Mangalore at the same time. and two other Gordons, Douglas and Harry. Of the last two, Douglas became an eminent Jesuit priest. I too have a deep attachment to Montfort and wish I could attend the reunion. I wish you all success, Theo Mathias,SJ. theomath@xlri.ac.in
McKERTICH, Honorine( nee BOSEN), SHY 1946-57
Dear Russell,
I came across the Montfort Boys and SHY Reunion being held in Perth next month. What a great idea! I am an old SHY student, having studied from KG to year 12, from 1946 to 1957. I was reading through all the names on the list and came across some classmates of mine. I'd love to come to the reunion, but, have our latest grand daughter's christening on the 13th Nov. and the last daughter's wedding not long after that, so we are in the thick of it right now, and therefore, cannot make it this time round.. I hope to get in touch with the Class of 1957, Joan Davies, Marlene Bowie, Catherine Thomas, Valerie Staines, Wendy and Philo VanRoss, etc. Ladies, please drop me an email because I'd love to have a reunion up at SHY, Yercaud, in 2007 which will be 50 years (golden anniversary) of passing out. In fact, when my husband and I were up at Yercaud in January this year, the Principal and Sr. Bernard, suggested this and they felt that it would be a marvelous idea. So, please class of 1957 do contact me, it would be a wonderful occasion for us to get together. Genevieve (nee Joseph) Escrador has now retired from teaching at SHY but still lives in Yercaud, so she will be a great help. My address is 50 Magowar Road, GIRRAWEEN, N.S.W. 2145. Sydney, Australia . Good luck with the Reunion! God bless.
Best wishes, Honorine MCKERTICH( nee BOSEN), was known at school as Honey Bosen.
