The children and the descendants of Richard Middlecoat Cuxton (Cotton Merchant) were as told to me by my Grandmother Ethel Smith (daughter of Mary Cuxton, who was the daughter of Richard Cuxton) who passed away in 1985, and my aunt Dolly Smith her daughter, from their memory and close connections with the extended Cuxton family. .

William CUXTON of Lincolnshire, UK married Frances ??, children:

  1. Richard Cassall Cuxton (baptized in the parish of Silk Willoughby in Lincoln County, UK on March 8th, 1789. He became a Cadet in the East India Company, and entered the Madras Infantry in 1807 at the age of 18 yrs, sailing to India on the good ship DUNDAS.  He saw service in India and Burma.)

Next Generation

Capt. Richard Cassall CUXTON H.C. 19th Regiment. Native Infantry (born in 1789 in Lincolnshire, UK and died in 1829 in India., baptized in the parish of Silk Willoughby in Lincoln County, UK on March 8th, 1789.   1. Richard Middlecoat Cuxton (born in Secunderabad, India in 1825 and baptized in Secunderabad on April 19th, 1827.) Richard Middlecoate Cuxton died at the age of 84 yrs on November 23rd, 1909 and was buried in Madurai. He provided the foundation of this branch of the Cuxton Family in India. This information was obtained from the Register of Burials, Madurai. Richard Middlecoat’s Great, Great Grandson made both of these documents available to me.

Richard Middlecoat CUXTON was the Patriarch and Founder of the extended CUXTON Family in Kaka Thope, (Family Property) Madurai.  Richard Middlecoat married an Indian Lady.  This Indian Lady was born in South India and died in Madurai, South India.  She became the matriarch of the extended CUXTON Family in Madurai, India.   Children:

  1. Tommy CUXTON was born in Madurai, India.
  2. Richard Henry CUXTON was born in Madurai, India.
  3. Charles (Charlie) CUXTON was born in Madurai, India.

BALLARD (Judge ICS. Indian Civil Service, Madras Presidency) and unknown English Lady, he was born in India. Children:

  1. Sonny BALLARD was born in Madurai and died age 17
  2. Ethel Eveline Helen BALLARD was born on 3.3.1887 in Madurai. (My Grandmother)
  3. Elizabeth (Bessie) BALLARD was born in Madurai.

Fanny CUXTON was born in Madurai and died in Madurai. Fanny married Charles Henry (Harry) BALLARD (2nd Wife) in Madurai, South India.  Charles Harry, son of ?? BALLARD (Judge ICS. Indian Civil Service, Madras Presidency) and unknown English Lady, he was born in India and died of Typhoid aged 42 yrs in India. Children:

  1. Laura Isabell BALLARD was born 13.9.1894 in Madurai.
